Damian FitzGerald is a poetic visual artist who invites his audience to become immersed in the contemplation of his imagery, the beauty of landscape and to reflect on the place we are from. FitzGerald’s rich and textured works are in essence a window to his soulful connection to Australia’s unique environment.
With fervor for art making FitzGerald continues to develop as he explores new ideas and mark making techniques. In addition to his ability to master the materials he uses and create a sense of balance in his compositions, FitzGerald is an artist that creates works that are laced with subtle messages and meanings. His explorations into the notion of ‘the bush’ combined with his own deep affinity with his country of origin allow FitzGerald to create powerful artworks that resonate and reverberate.
As well as his creative art practice, FitzGerald is an accomplished musician, songwriter and performer. In recent years he has also worked as a scenic artist for Australian and international film & television productions.
