Rock, Paper, Lasers is an exhibition by Troy Innocent, Jeff Janet, Trinh Vu & Joel Zika. These four artists, using the latest digital laser cutting technology, have created a series of three dimensional paper sculptures, some that mimic industrial design objects and others that are more representative of the artists creative interests. The intention of Rock, Paper, Lasers is to explore the possibilities of laser technology for the creation of contemporary art. While these artists, in part, aim to project a light on the facelessness of the prefabricated ‘homeware’ or ‘lifestyle’ laser cut products/objects, they easily move beyond this consideration reveling in the machine’s benefits for more unique creative purposes rather than running from them.
