In recent years Catherine Campbell has developed a strong following for the whimsical works that she creates. Using pen and ink, paper collage, and a variety of other delicate materials to create intricately detailed and highly imaginative images Campbell creates works that reflect her love of nature, pattern, folk art and narrative.
Somersaults and Strange Company sees her continue in this tradition with a new series of drawings that will also be accompanied by a large scale painting/installation; transforming one gallery wall into a magical tea-light seaside village.
Catherine Campbell studied art at the College of Fine Arts, Sydney and has exhibited in various galleries in Australia, the United States and Europe. Catherine’s work has appeared in publications including Frankie magazine, Curvy, Australian Women’s Weekly, Cleo Magazine, Kingbrown magazine, Vogue Girl Korea and The Age. She has worked with Billabong, Vans and various other companies on customised products and design.
