Specimen tells a story, tinged with nostalgia, of an ancient land seen through a scientific looking glass. The more we observe, the more we realise that things are not as they seem. Is this history real or imagined?
Using wood, paint and glass, Damian FitzGerald creates an atmosphere of antiquity and mystery. Exploring the notion of reminiscing and how it colours our memory, Fitzgerald’s new works offer the observer a microscope through which to explore and question the preservation of Australian history.
