Anita Mertzlin’s delicately crafted still life paintings in her latest series Thread are composed through her considered placement of symbolic objects throughout each work she creates. Mertzlin explores the confluence of what we encounter in our daily lives with a search for deeper meaning in relation to our memories of the past and how this shapes our sense of place and identity over time. While this series of works are laced with the artist's own personal nostalgia we are asked to discover what it is that she is illuminating and how this relates to our own lives.
