Tunnel Vision – Take 2 is John Hoerner’s most recent artistic endeavour that continues to reflect his innate visual understanding of the world and brings to the forefront his on-going passion for photography. The images in the exhibition comprise of Melbourne identities and the artists own inner circle. As a result of a stroke that took place in 2003 that left this artist partially blind with just only a pin hole of light to view the world, Hoerner’s photographs offer a particularly unique perspective for looking at the world. During his early period of rehabilitation following the several strokes Hoerner discovered that by looking into the screen of a digital camera he could then see much more than his impaired vision allowed him. As his recovery progressed he began to compile a series of images of people and places that formed a documentation of Melbourne identities and icons.
